Lawyer refutes allegations of arrest with Nik Nazmi in khalwat case

HOST Nani Roslan has denied rumours linking her to a woman allegedly detained in a khalwat (close proximity) case involving former MP Nik Nazmi Nik Ahmad.

She said the allegations are baseless and decided to respond publicly after her name became the subject of speculation.

Nani also expressed disappointment over the obscene comments, insults, and degrading remarks directed at her, stressing that no woman should be shamed or sexualised based on unfounded assumptions.

“I believe that no woman should be sexualised, insulted, or shamed based solely on unfounded assumptions,” she said.

She also denied allegations claiming that she was involved in planning the incident.

“I want to emphasise here that the allegation is completely untrue,” she added.

Nani said she is a professional host who has worked on numerous programmes and events with people from diverse backgrounds.

She revealed that even before the recent controversy, she had faced restrictions, blacklisting, last-minute cancellations and removal from hosting roles due to perceptions that her professional work was linked to certain political parties.

“Carrying out my duties does not mean that I support the political views of any party. For your information, my involvement as a podcast host ended on 30 September 2026,” she explained.

Meanwhile, Parti Bersama Malaysia has suspended Nik Nazmi Nik Ahmad from all official party activities for three months, effective October 20.

The party said the decision followed his public admission regarding his involvement in an incident with the Selangor Islamic Religious Department in Petaling Jaya on October 15.

“Bersama views this development seriously and takes the position that every issue involving the party’s leadership and members must be addressed appropriately to preserve the party’s integrity, credibility and public confidence,” Syukri Razab said in a statement on behalf of the party.

Nik Nazmi, in a statement on Facebook, said he was the man caught with a woman in an enclosed space during the raid.

He publicly apologised to his wife, family and party members.—Focus Malaysia
