KOTA BARU: Perikatan Nasional has yet to decide whether it will contest in the Sarawak election, says coalition secretary-general Datuk Seri Takiyuddin Hassan.
He said PN was focused on the upcoming Melaka polls and would discuss the Sarawak election soon.
The Sarawak state assembly will be dissolved on Monday.
Takiyuddin, who is also Pas secretary-general, said the Islamist party was always ready to contest elections.
"Whether we contest or not is secondary. If we decide to contest, we always have candidates in any state," he told a press conference at the Himpunan dan Munajat Penyatuan Ummah event last night.
"So far, I have not received instructions from the president (Tan Sri Abdul Hadi Awang) to hold a meeting to discuss the matter. However, a PN meeting will be held tomorrow," he said.
Pas has contested in Sarawak since 2001 but has yet to win a seat in the country's largest state. - FMT
