Schools in Johor, Melaka, Negeri Sembilan, Putrajaya closed tomorrow

 Those in several areas in Selangor and Pahang will also be closed because of the haze.

PETALING JAYA:

All schools in Johor, Melaka, Negeri Sembilan and Putrajaya will be closed tomorrow (Oct 13) because of the continuing haze, says education minister Fadhlina Sidek.

Fadhlina said schools in certain districts in Selangor (Hulu Langat, Petaling Perdana, Kuala Langat and Sepang) and Pahang (Kuantan and Rompin) will also be closed.

She said schools in Kuala Lumpur, Labuan, Kedah, Kelantan, Perlis, Penang, Perak, Terengganu, Sabah and Sarawak, as well as certain districts in Selangor and Pahang, will continue to be open as usual.

“School authorities are requested to ensure that outdoor activities are monitored for air quality.

“Parents, students and teachers are advised to wear appropriate face masks when outside, especially in haze-hit areas,” she said in a Facebook post.

Fadhlina urged the public to rely on official announcements from their respective school authorities, district education offices and state education departments for real-time updates. - FMT
