WAWASAN is undecided and would seek consensus from Perikatan Nasional (PN) component parties before fielding its candidates.
Party president Datuk Seri Hamzah Zainuddin commented on this matter yesterday (Oct 24).
“God willing, what matters most is the agreement among our PN partners,” the former Bersatu deputy president said when met after the Larut parliamentary thanksgiving feast last night.
“Only after that will we make an announcement. We don’t want to announce anything prematurely as the decision must be made by all PN members.”
Just a week ago, Hamzah said his party intends to defend its seat in Melaka.
WAWASAN had two state seats before the state assembly was dissolved. Dr Mohd Aleef Yusof represented Sungai Udang and Bemban was represented by Dr Mohd Yadzil Yaakub.
Yadzil was also the state opposition leader.
Both doctors won the seats on Bersatu’s ticket before crossing over to WAWASAN. There were talks on the ground that Paya Rumput would also be contested by WAWASAN.

It appears that Barisan Nasional (BN) has made way for Bemban to be contested by PN as it did not name a candidate there.
BN has named Datuk Rais Yasin as a candidate for Sungai Udang.
Bemban and Paya Rumput is among the seven seats offered by BN to PN. BN had not named candidates for both constituencies.
Meanwhile Pakatan Harapan (PH) has made way for Bersatu to contest in Bemban, a seat traditionally contested by DAP.
Both BN and PH are contesting 21 out of 28 seats in Melaka. Both the coalition are also offering their new allies seven seats to contest.
This is the second state election which would see UMNO-led BN collaborating with PAS-led PN.
The Melaka state assembly was dissolved on Sept 23.
Nomination for the polls is set to take place on Oct 31. Early polling day is on Nov 10. Melaka will decide on their next government on Nov 14. – Focus Malaysia
