The PN secretary-general says all parties must respect the constitutional right of every person regarding pardons.

The PN secretary-general said all parties must respect the constitutional right of every person regarding pardons. “There is nothing to dispute,” he told reporters after the launch of the joint BN-PN manifesto today.
Meanwhile, Takiyuddin said he believed the promises in the joint BN-PN manifesto were achievable, given the state government’s achievements so far. “I do not think anything important has been left out of the manifesto. I feel it meets the needs of Melaka’s 1.06 million people,” he said.
Former Umno president Najib was granted a house arrest order by the Kuala Lumpur High Court today after Umno paid a RM50 million fine with funds collected through a donation drive. However, the Attorney-General’s Chambers has called for him to remain in prison pending a review of legal matters in the case.
Najib was sentenced to 12 years’ jail in August 2022 for abuse of power, criminal breach of trust and money laundering involving RM42 million in SRC International funds. He was granted a royal pardon in January 2024, which halved his prison sentence and reduced his fine to RM50 million. In September this year, he was granted a further conditional pardon, allowing him to serve the remainder of his sentence under house arrest until Aug 23, 2028. - FMT
