The programme at the London School of Economics and Political Science will support Malaysian students for the next 20 years.

In a statement, YTL said executive chairman Francis Yeoh had facilitated the commitment, which would create life-changing opportunities for generations of Malaysian students.
It said the inaugural cohort of scholars joined LSE in September, comprising nine undergraduate and postgraduate students from nine departments across the school.
“The future of a nation is nurtured in the minds and hearts of its young people. By investing in capable and passionate students today, we sow the seeds of a Malaysia whose progress is guided by wisdom, whose prosperity is shared, and whose leadership is worthy of the trust of its people,” the statement quoted Yeoh as saying.
Yeoh said that at a time when outstanding leaders are increasingly scarce, education must cultivate character alongside intellect, conscience alongside ambition and a sense of duty alongside the pursuit of success.
YTL said the partnership builds on a history of positive collaboration between LSE and Malaysian partners, with the campus hosting more than 250 Malaysian students in the 2025-26 session.
Commenting on the gift, LSE president and vice-chancellor Larry Kramer said the investment in education reflected a shared belief in the future potential of society.
“Empowering future generations to create, innovate, and lead offers our best path to a better world ahead,” he said.
YTL said the Yeoh family has a 30-year history of supporting scholarships for hundreds of Malaysian students and a dedication to economic ties that earned Yeoh an honorary award of Knight Commander of the Order of the British Empire in 2019. - FMT
