Ezam coy on whether he will contest Shah Alam seat

Hisbah Malaysia chairperson Ezam Mohd Noor said he will announce which seat he is contesting in the coming general election after Parliament is dissolved.
The former Umno senator also dismissed claims that if he contested the Shah Alam parliament seat, it would split the votes for the opposition.
“I am bound by Hisbah's decision of wanting me to contest. As for your query on why Shah Alam, wait for my statement when Parliament is dissolved.
“How would you know that I would split the opposition votes. I was also an Umno member for some time. I may split the Umno votes,” he said.
Yesterday, Hisbah, an anti-corruption NGO, announced that Ezam would contest in Shah Alam, which is held by Khalid Samad.
It said Ezam should not contest in Pekan, Pahang against Prime Minister Najib Abdul Razak due to the excessive shifting of voters there.
Khalid had won the seat in 2013 as a PAS member. He has since joined the PAS splinter party Amanah.
Earlier, Khalid told Malaysiakini that Ezam, who was once a close aide of jailed former opposition leader Anwar Ibrahim, should not contest against Pakatan Harapan parties if he is against corruption.
