IGP: Felda, FIC board members may be summoned for questioning

IGP Fuzi Harun says there should not be any speculation over Felda’s land transfer to a private company while investigations are ongoing.
fuzi-fic-feldaPETALING JAYA: The board members of Felda and its investment arm, Felda Investment Corporation (FIC), may be summoned by the police for questioning over investigations on the controversial transfer of a Felda land at Jalan Semarak in Kuala Lumpur to private hands.
Inspector-General of Police Mohamad Fuzi Harun was reported by the New Sunday Times today as saying that investigators might need to record their statements to complete the probe.
“If it is found that they were involved with the transaction, then they will be called up to assist in investigations,” he was quoted as saying.
“If we need to call, we will call. But for sure, we will call the board of directors of Synergy Promenade Sdn Bhd (SPSB) to assist in investigations,” he added, referring to the private company to whom the land was transferred.
Fuzi added that the matter should not be the subject of speculation as misunderstandings might arise while investigations were ongoing.
On Dec 21, Berita Harian had reported that Felda risked losing ownership of its land on Jalan Semarak, estimated to be worth RM200 million, after the transfer of the land through dubious transactions since 2015.
The next day, Prime Minister Najib Razak said he wanted the authorities to conduct a thorough probe on the issue surrounding the ownership of the four parcels of land at the site.
The police also announced that a special team had been formed on Dec 13 to investigate the case, saying they would call on former Felda chairman Isa Samad to assist in investigations.
The investigations are being conducted under Section 420 of the Penal Code for cheating and dishonestly inducing delivery of property, and Section 471 for using as genuine a forged document.
Isa’s statement on the case was taken by Bukit Aman’s Commercial Crime Investigation Department at its headquarters on Jan 4 and 5. -FMT
