Several Pakatan Harapan leaders said the matter of selecting the coalition’s prime ministerial candidate had been settled, after a meeting that lasted more than five hours today at Bersatu’s headquarters in Petaling Jaya.
However, they were coy about the details, insisting that further information would only be revealed at the Harapan convention tomorrow.
When met after the meeting, Harapan chairperson Dr Mahathir Mohamad said, "Tomorrow, you will hear all the announcements that will clear all of your questions".
When pressed if this included the question of the prime ministerial candidate, Mahathir reiterated, "All your questions".
Mahathir, who is also Bersatu chairperson, said the meeting had also touched on last-minute arrangements for the convention.
Other Harapan leaders delivered similar messages when met after the meeting, which began this afternoon.
"Everything has been resolved," said Amanah president Mohamad Sabu.
PKR vice-president Rafizi Ramli also said, "All done".
However, they declined to reveal specifics.
Harapan had struggled over whether to formally name its prime ministerial candidate tomorrow.
Malaysiakini previously reported that DAP, Amanah and Bersatu were prepared to accept Mahathir as Harapan's official choice for prime minister.
However, a reluctant PKR had insisted that it could only accept Mahathir on an interim basis at most.
Following the deadlock, Mahathir, who will turn 93 this year, said he would not be prime minister until he was 100 years old.- Mkini
