Warisan veep in graft probe released on bail



Parti Warisan Sabah vice-president Peter Anthony, detained over a probe on a Rubber Industry Smallholders Association (Risda) land deal, has been released on bail after the expiry of his remand today.
According to The Star today, magistrate Afiq Agoes ordered for an immediate medical check-up after Anthony's counsel Martin Tommy submitted a medical report to the court.
His guarantor is to furnish his RM55,000 bail at the Malaysian Anti-Corruption Commission (MACC) office in Kota Kinabalu.
The Warisan leader is being investigated over a RM155 million oil palm plantation deal in Tongod, Sabah.
On Jan 5, Anthony, 46, was detained by MACC after he presented himself at the agency’s office to give his statement on the sale of the land.
He was remanded for three days, which was further extended four days.
According to The Star, the police are also seeking lawyer Michael Persius Ubu over the case.
He is believed to be overseas.- Mkini
