Jelutong MP blasted for 'provocative behaviour'

Umno Youth leader Shahrul Nasrun Kamaruddin has taken the DAP's Jelutong lawmaker RSN Rayer (photo) to task for his seemingly disruptive behaviour in Parliament.
The Umno Youth executive committee member was referring to Rayer's use of the term 'kepala bapak' (your father's head, to mean a statement is nonsensical or ridiculous) in the Dewan Rakyat yesterday, which earned him rebuke from Deputy Speaker Nga Kor Ming.
Shahrul said in a statement today that such "provocative" attitude reflects the immaturity of Pakatan Harapan parliamentarians and contravenes the role of the Dewan Rakyat, which is to highlight the issues and problems faced by the rakyat.
This, he said, could cause MPs to lose the respect of the rakyat.
"From Rayer's insolent and rude manner, does the Jelutong MP realise he is called Ahli Yang Berhormat (YB)? Does Rayer realise that acting like a samseng (gangster) can cause the rakyat to lose the respect for their representatives?
"Rayer must know that he was elected to bring the voice of the rakyat (to Parliament) and not to show his manliness or courage, what more to insult others in the Dewan Rakyat.
"If Rayer really wants to show his masculinity, I urge him to forsake his role as Jelutong MP and join the Ultimate Fighting Championship (UFC, a mixed martial arts competition). I am sure many would want Rayer as a sparring partner," Shahrul said.
In yesterday's incident, Rayer was ordered by Nga to withdraw his remark, believed to be directed at the BN.
Rayer had reportedly used the term when highlighting the faulty air-conditioning at the North-East District police headquarters in Penang and blamed the BN for its failure to look after the police and military servicemen. - Mkini
