Agencies investigating me must be impartial, says Musa Aman

KOTA KINABALU: Former Sabah chief minister Tan Sri Musa Aman, who is facing investigations by multiple enforcement agencies, says those probing him must carry out their duties independently without any pressure.
He said he had faith in the Malaysian judiciary, police and immigration department as they were well respected in the way they carried out their duties.
“They must not be subject to pressure from any person or government, local or foreign.
“The sanctity of their good office must always be protected,” Musa said in a statement released by his media spokesman Awang Faisyal late on Friday (Aug 24).
.“They must always be allowed to carry out their duties independently and in good faith. May God have mercy on us and guide us on the true path,” he added.
Musa, who returned to Malaysia on Tuesday, three months after leaving for the United Kingdom, was arrested by the police on Wednesday (Aug 23). However, Magistrate Norshahirah Abd Salim refused to grant the police application for remand during a hearing conducted at the private hospital suite in Kuala Lumpur where Musa was warded.
During the remand hearing, Musa, through his lawyers, said he left the country legally to seek medical treatment and to attend to personal matters.
His lawyers also denied he was the fugitive he had been made out to be by some quarters.
The police proceeded to record his statement the next day over a criminal intimidation report lodged by the Sabah Yang DiPertua Negeri Tun Jahar Mahiruddin following the May 10 chief minister swearing-in ceremony at Istana Negeri here.
This was done over Thursday and Friday.
Meanwhile, Musa must return to Sabah to take his oath as Sungai Sibuga assemblyman by Sept 11 or the seat will be vacated.
On Friday, Sabah State Assembly Speaker Datuk Seri Said Abas Said Ali waited on Friday afternoon to swear Musa in after the former chief minister notifed him of his intent. However, Musa did not turn up as stayed on in Kuala Lumpur to assist the police in their investigations.- Star
