‘Black Commando’ runs up a sweat for BN in Sg Kandis

SG KANDIS POLLS | On the last day of campaigning for the Sungai Kandis by-election, a retired police corporal has embarked on a 30-kilometre run to stump for BN.
Mohd Ismawi Ismail, who also goes by the nickname Mawi Black Commando, began his solo run from Petaling Jaya earlier this afternoon and aims to arrive at BN’s Command Centre in Sungai Kandis by 9pm.
In a Facebook Live broadcast of his run, Ismawi identified himself as a Petaling Jaya Umno Youth member and said he was running to raise awareness about BN’s contributions to the country, as well as how the coalition had kept its promises to the rakyat.
“The Batu Tiga toll booth was demolished on Dec 31 last year. It has been there since I was a child and now I am almost 40 years old.
“It was demolished by (former prime minister) Najib Abdul Razak, thank you,” he said while stopping by the highway to point at where the toll booth once stood.
Ismawi will next run past the Sungai Rasau toll booth to again commemorate how BN had kept its promise to dismantle it.
Najib had previously announced the abolition of both toll booths when tabling Budget 2018.
In the dark
When first contacted about the solo run, BN’s Sungai Kandis campaign team seemed to be in the dark about it.
Umno Youth chief Asyraf Wajdi Dusuki also said he was unaware but later informed Malaysiakini that Ismawi’s run had been organised by Umno Youth division in Petaling Jaya.
BN’s Lokman Noor Adam is up against PKR’s Mohd Zawawi Ahmad Mughni and independent candidate K Murthy in tomorrow's by-election.
The by-election was triggered following the death of its incumbent, Mat Shuhaimi Shafiei due to cancer on July 2.
In the May 9 general election, the late Suhaimi won the Malay-majority seat with a 12,480 vote majority in a four-cornered fight. - Mkini
