Mindef awarded contracts worth RM18 billion to Boustead Naval


The Ministry of Defence today told the parliament that it had awarded contracts for the construction and maintenance of Navy ships to Boustead Naval Dockyard in Lumut, Perak, amounting to RM18 billion.
Answering a question dated July 31 that was asked by Kuala Terengganu MP Ahmad Amzad Mohamed on the value of construction and repair contracts awarded to the company since 2000, Defence Minister Mohamad Sabu said the values are RM17 billion and RM1 billion, for the construction and maintenance, respectively.

"For the construction contract, a total of RM6.7 billion was spent for constructing the patrol vessel ship.
"While RM9.1 billion for Littoral Combat Ship (LCS) and RM1.17 billion for the Littoral Mission Ship (LMS) were spent," he said.
As for the maintenance contract, Mohamad said since 2000, 34 ships and CB90 boatshave undergone repairs at the Boustead Naval Shipyard, amounting to RM1.06 billion - Mkini
