PKR may contest in Seri Setia again, says Wan Azizah

PKR has a chance of contesting the Seri Setia by-election as the late incumbent Shaharuddin Badaruddin was from the party, says Dr Wan Azizah Wan Ismail.
Even so, the PKR president stressed that the Pakatan Harapan coalition has yet to meet to officially decide on the matter.
"We have not yet met. Usually, in Seri Setia, the party which (previously) contested will get a chance to contest (the by-election)," she said when met during a Harapan ceramah last night before today’s Sungai Kandis polls.
Shaharuddin, who died on Thursday from colon cancer, had won the Malay-majority Selangor state seat by 19,372 votes in the 14th general election.
The first-term assemblyperson had defeated BN’s Yusoff M Haniff, PAS' Mohd Ghazali Daud and independent S Vigneswaran.
Selangor Harapan election chairperson Dr Xavier Jayakumar had earlier stated that the coalition’s logo would be used in the Balakong by-election on Sept 8 and in the Seri Setia by-election. No date has been set for the latter.
According to Xavier, the Registrar of Societies (ROS) has declared that the logo can be used in the coming general election.
"So, this (PKR flag) is nostalgic for us, and this will be the last time we will use the PKR flag in this (Sungai Kandis) polls," he said last night.
Today’s by-election in Sungai Kandis was triggered with PKR incumbent Mat Shuhaimi Shafiei’s death on July 2 from lymphoma.
Meanwhile, the Balakong seat fell vacant after the death of assemblyperson Eddie Ng on in a July 20 road accident. - Mkini
