SEX SCANDAL HITS BUKIT AMAN: SENIOR SABAH COP PROBED FOR SEXUALLY HARASSING 6 OF HIS MALE OFFICERS, 1 RELA VOLUNTEER: ‘POLICE CHIEF ASKED STAFF TO MEET IN HOTEL ROOM, THEN KISSED HIS CHEEK, TOUCH HIS PRIVATE PARTS’ – REPORT

A senior police officer in Sabah is in the process of being transferred following allegations that he sexually harassed six of his men and a member of the People’s Volunteer Corps (Rela).
Bukit Aman’s integrity and standards compliance department (Jips) director Zamhri Yahya told Malaysiakini that the officer, a district police chief, will be moved to the Sabah police contingent headquarters pending further action.
“He will be transferred and stern disciplinary action will be taken against him because it’s a serious offence. He can face suspension or more,” he added.
Malaysiakini learned that Jips officers from Kuala Lumpur had flown to Sabah to investigate the allegations.
A source familiar with the case claimed that the officer, who is married with children, frequently sent lewd text messages to his victims and invited them to a hotel room on the pretext of having discussions.
“One of the victims was asked to go to a hotel for a discussion. The police chief then asked him to continue the discussion in the hotel room.
“The victim did not suspect anything was amiss. But in the room, the police chief tried to kiss his cheek and touch his private parts, but the victim declined and left the hotel,” he alleged.

The source claimed that the officer had also groped some of his victims by inserting his hand into their pants.
“If the victims resisted, he would give them the cold treatment and exclude them from the activities at the district police headquarters,” he added.
According to the source, the issue came to light when the Sabah police headquarters contacted one of the victims because he had failed to submit certain reports.
“The victim revealed that he couldn’t complete his work as there had been disruptions by the police chief, and that he and others had avoided meeting the police chief in person,” added the source.
Following this, an officer from Sabah police headquarters recorded statements from the seven victims without the police chief’s knowledge, and sent the findings to the federal Jips department.
It is learnt that Jips officers have recorded the police chief’s statement as well.
