Pakatan Harapan president Dr Wan Azizah Wan Ismail said today that the coalition will ensure that there is no repeat of the election violations which Bersih said occurred in the Sungai Kandis by-election.
“We will follow the guidelines provided by Bersih so we do not repeat (the offences).
“Sometimes we may have brought over the old (culture) into Sungai Kandis, which is our first by-election (after the 14th general election),” she told reporters after attending the launch of Raja Ahmad Aminullah's book Fidelity to Ideas in Publika, Kuala Lumpur.
Wan Azizah, the deputy prime minister, said Harapan takes the claims of election offences seriously as they do not want to commit any violations.
Yesterday, Bersih released their observation report for the Sungai Kandis by-election, where they recorded a total of 13 election offences committed by both Harapan and BN.
The electoral reforms group had also called upon the candidates in the upcoming Seri Setia and Balakong by-elections to refrain from repeating the election offences committed in the polls for the state seat. - Mkini
