PETALING JAYA: The Malaysian Communications and Multimedia Commission (MCMC), acting on reports lodged by the public, is investigating an individual who allegedly insulted the King on social media.
The regulatory body said an “irresponsible party” had uploaded images that insulted the Yang di-Pertuan Agong on Facebook on Thursday (April 11).
"Investigations are being conducted following reports received by the MCMC from the public, so that immediate action can be taken,” it said.
The MCMC added that it was sharing information on the matter with the police.
It added that if found guilty, a person charged under the Section 233 was liable for a fine of RM50,000 or imprisonment not exceeding one year, or both.- Star
