Selangor police: Two reports filed over marked Indonesian ballot papers

According to Selangor police, two reports have been lodged over the discovery of some 50,000 Indonesian ballot papers marked in favour of President Joko 'Jokowi' Widodo and his running-mate Ma'ruf Amin in Bangi and Kajang yesterday.
Malaysian police have mainly remained silent over the matter, which triggered an outcry in Indonesia as the country readies for its presidential and legislative elections on April 17.
When contacted, Selangor police chief Noor Azam Jamaludin said inspector-general of police Mohamad Fuzi Harun is expected to issue a formal statement on the issue.
"What I can confirm is that two reports were lodged following the discovery (of the ballot papers) yesterday," Noor Azam told Malaysiakini.
Indonesian online news portal Tempo.co reported earlier today that a meeting was held between Indonesia's election committee representatives from its embassy in Kuala Lumpur, and supporters of both Jokowi-Ma'ruf and Prabowo Subianto, another presidential election contender.
Asked for clarification on the meeting which was also reportedly attended by Kajang district police chief Ahmad Dzaffir Mohd Yussof, Noor Azam merely reiterated that Fuzi is expected to address all related issues.
According to Tempo.co, Malaysian police personnel were assigned to guard the two locations (below) in Taman Kajang Utama and Sungai Tangkas, Bangi, where over 200 bags of marked ballot papers have remained since yesterday.
Responding to the discovery, Joko reportedly said last night the matter should be investigated by the election monitoring body in Jakarta and its representatives in Malaysia.
Malaysiakini understands that several representatives from Indonesia's election monitoring body have arrived in Kuala Lumpur today.
The outcome of their investigations is also expected to be announced ahead of early voting for their overseas citizens, which scheduled for this Sunday.
Indonesia is set to hold its legislative and presidential polls on April 17, while early voting on April 14 will be carried out by its foreign missions together with an election monitoring committee.
With some 1.5 million Indonesian registered voters, Malaysia makes up the largest diaspora of the republic's overseas voters. - Mkini
