ZAKIR NAIK IS "UNWELCOMED" AND SHOULD NOT BE ALLOWED TO SPEAK TO THE MALAYSIAN PUBLIC, EVEN IF THE ATTENDANCE IS FORCED OR NOT.

Students not forced to attend discussion with Zakir Naik - UUM

Malaysiakini  |  Published:

Universiti Utara Malaysia (UUM)'s Kelab Perkim is organising it to expose them to social realities and current issues, says Deputy VC.

As a Malaysian, I am quite surprise that there is no Malaysian speaker who has the expertise to speak on social realities and current issues faced by Malaysians.

As far as we all know, Zakir Naik is a Indian national and surely he is not an expert about Malaysia life and their realities. He may hold a permanent residency to remain in Malaysia but he has to respect the laws and unity of our muti-cultural, multi-racial and multi-religious Malaysian society.

Furthermore, Zakir Naik is a criminal wanted in India and a few other country for promoting terrorism which he denies.

Malaysia is also facing terrorist problems and to allow Zakir Naik to speak would be disastrous.

If Zakir Naik is innocent, as he claims, he should return to India and clear himself. Giving a lame excuse that he will not receive fair justice is undermining the laws of India.

UUM should immediately cancel this programme scheduled for 18 April 2019, if the UUM's Kelab Perkim fails to get a Malaysian who is an expert in social realities and current issues affecting Malaysians.

As far as the record shows, Zakir Naik does not possess a Malaysian credential from any local religious authorities to speak to Malaysian Muslims on any religious topic.

Zakir Naik is really "unwelcomed" in Malaysia since he incites and insults the other faiths in this multi-religious society in Malaysia.

UUM's Kelab Perkim should find a suitable Malaysian to speak on this topics if they feel if they want to proceed with this event failing which UUM or the Education Ministry should cancel the event. - Mohd. Kamal Abdullah
