MAHATHIR TRIES TO SAVE FACE – BUT THE FACT IS, PAKATAN TOP COUNCIL HAS INSISTED HE ACTS – AND ANWAR MAY BE PART OF NEW CABINET: FROM OLD, SLOW & ONLY READY TO CHANGE MINISTERS ‘BEFORE APEC’, MAHATHIR NOW AGREES ON ‘IMMINENT CABINET RESHUFFLE’

The Pakatan Harapan leadership has accepted that changes need to be made to the cabinet following the coalition’s crushing defeat in the Tg Piai by-election, said Prime Minister Dr Mahathir Mohamad.
Dr Mahathir, who is PH chairman, said a reshuffle would take place in due course in the absence of objections from the PH council.
“They did not object. Nobody said please don’t change me,” he said to laughter, after the PH council meeting today in Putrajaya.
Dr Mahathir said it has not been decided whether PKR president Anwar Ibrahim would have a place in the new line up.
Anwar Ibrahim, who was sitting beside Dr Mahathir, interjected with a jocular denial that he had not applied to join the cabinet.
Dr Mahathir broached the possibility of changing the cabinet last week at a Bersatu Supreme council meeting.
“I, as the prime minister, have to be responsible for a cabinet reshuffle. I have heard their views and will consider demands for a cabinet reshuffle.
“It won’t happen today or tomorrow but after we have studied and observed the achievements of the existing ministers.
“We will only discuss the need for a reshuffle after that,” Dr Mahathir had said. – THE MALAYSIAN INSIGHT

Dr M: Anwar part of reshuffled Cabinet? ‘Everything is possible’

PUTRAJAYA — Tun Dr Mahathir Mohamad has not made his mind up yet on whether or not Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim will be part of his revamped Cabinet line-up.
He told a press conference today after a post mortem meeting with the Pakatan Harapan Presidential Council over their recent Tanjung Piai defeat that “everything is possible”.
Touching on the sentiments of his current line up and whether or not they were unhappy with the reshuffle, Dr Mahathir said the ministers seem to have taken it stoically.
