Ensuring the success of the Asia-Pacific Economic Cooperation (Apec) summit this November will be the focus for the International Trade and Industry Ministry (Miti).
Incoming Miti deputy minister Lim Ban Hong said that was the agenda set by incoming Miti Minister Azmin Ali.
"Our vision and mission are to make Malaysia a preferred investment destination. We will try to bring more quality investments to Malaysia.
"At the same time also make our industrial activity more innovative so that we can have more high value-added products and services in Malaysia," Lim told reporters after being sworn-in as a senator today.
He said Miti has a role in creating jobs for the rakyat and ensuring economic growth.
"I take this as a heavy task because we are experiencing challenging times. We will work hard with our Miti comrades," he said.
Lim, 43, is the MCA vice-president. He is a former Klebang assemblyperson and Malacca cabinet member.
Yesterday, Prime Minister Muhyiddin Yassin appointed one cabinet member and three deputy ministers from MCA.
Apart from Lim, MCA deputy president Dr Mah Hang Soon was also sworn-in as a senator this morning and will be sworn-in as deputy education minister later today. - Mkini
