Don’t stop projects awarded by PH, Najib tells new government

Former prime minister Najib Razak says the new government must ensure the cycle of money in the local economy is not stopped.
PETALING JAYA: Former prime minister Najib Razak has urged the new government not to stop projects started by the Pakatan Harapan administration.
In a Facebook post, Najib, who was also the finance minister, said stopping the projects will affect the local economy and frighten investors, amid the Covid-19 outbreak and the drop in global oil prices.
He said the Dow Jones index had fallen by more than 2,000 points yesterday, the largest drop since the 2008 global financial crisis.
“Even if (the new government) wants to investigate (projects), investigate while the projects are ongoing or after the economy recovers.
“The new government must ensure the cycle of money in the local economy is not stopped. Don’t repeat the stupid mistakes of the PH regime,” he said.
In a separate post, Najib said the PH-led administration had postponed some 121 projects awarded by the Barisan Nasional administration although they were already in progress.
He said the postponements, of between six and nine months, resulted in losses for contractors and sub-contractors of the projects. - FMT
