EPF Jalan Raja Laut temporarily closed after visit by Covid-19 positive member

PETALING JAYA: The Employees Provident Fund (EPF) confirms that a visitor who came to its Jalan Raja Laut branch on Feb 27 has tested positive for Covid-19.
It said the branch would be temporarily closed to facilitate the disinfection process and reopen on March 16.
EPF said the member who tested positive for Covid-19 on March 3 entered the premises at 2pm and left at 2.30pm on Feb 27.
"Presently, we are unable to confirm if the member was already infected at the time of the member's visit to our branch," EPF said in a statement Tuesday (March 10).
It added that the staff member who came into contact with the member had been sent for testing and a quarantine order has been imposed on the rest of the staff.
"The EPF is working closely with the health authorities on any follow-up measures required.
"We have decided to take the proactive measure of closing the branch until Friday, March 13, to conduct a thorough disinfection of the affected area and its vicinity.
"The said branch will be reopened on Monday, March 16," it said.
The EPF also said that they have also implemented hygiene protocols at all its premises since February to minimise risk of transmission in the wake of the Covid-19 outbreak.
"All counters and other surfaces are continually cleaned throughout the day. In addition, all counter staff are required to wash their hands every 30 minutes. As a further precautionary measure, members must undergo mandatory temperature checks prior to entering any EPF premises.
"Counters at other EPF branches will operate as usual," it said.
EPF also advised members to apply via i-Akaun for transactions that did not require face-to-face contact with its personnel.
"Members are also advised to visit the nearest healthcare provider if symptoms arise, observe good personal hygiene, and wear appropriate personal protective gear prior to visiting branch offices," it said. - Star
