Malaysiakini

Communications and Multimedia Minister Saifuddin Abdullah has conceded that the new Perikatan Nasional (PN) government was formed without a manifesto but said Prime Minister Muhyiddin Yassin will be seeking policy proposals.
"This is a cabinet that was born without a manifesto. There is good and bad to this. The good is that we are not tied down, but on the other hand people want to know our direction.
"Tomorrow, the prime minister will call all ministers and deputy ministers for an intensive discussion for us to present our policy proposals.
"I'm not saying that everything will be new but there are certain things that we can introduce," Saifuddin (above) told an interview with TV1 today.w cabinet has no deputy prime minister, stating that the four senior ministers system is a more innovative approach to governance.
He said the senior ministers will help coordinated a few related ministries which can allow them to more effectively deal with cross-ministerial issues.
"It is more functional and effective," he said.
He also defended the larger size of the cabinet, pointing out that the previous Pakatan Harapan government was tied to its manifesto to have a smaller cabinet.
He added that the new ministries created under the PN government are intended to serve specific purposes. - Mkini
