CORONAVIRUS | Sabah has announced a RM670 million stimulus package with the tagline "Sabah, we care", to help the people during the Covid-19 pandemic.
The package is split into three main categories, RM60 million for frontliners, RM360 million for affected people, and RM250 million to improve quality of life and ensure businesses remain sustainable.
Of the aid to frontliners, RM50 million is for emergency and critical needs, and RM10 million for food aid.
Meanwhile, poor and hardcore poor families will get a RM500 one-off cash aid, while other B40 families will get a one-off RM300 cash aid.
The stimulus also made allocations to allow a six-month exemption for PPR rent, three-month electricity bill discounts for 512,000 users, three-month water bill exception for 335,000 domestic users.
It also provides for 20 percent off quit rent for the year, and 30 percent off land tax.
There's also RM18 million in food aid to affected villages and RM2 million to help Sabah students in the Peninsula, Labuan and Sarawak, among other aid.
For improving quality of life and ensuring business sustainability, Sabah has allocated RM200 million to improve basic infrastructure and public facilities; RM40 million for a micro-credit scheme to small traders and RM50 million for SME fund. - Mkini
