CORONAVIRUS | Restrictions on traffic and market operating hours under the movement control order (MCO) have adversely affected the supply chain for vegetables and raw food.
Due to the various problems and regulations imposed by authorities, many vegetable sellers and vegetable delivery truck drivers said they would rather stop their service to avoid problems...
My comments :
Someone is not doing their job properly.
The MKN boys (Majlis Keselamatan Negara) should know better.
The other day I posted about chicken farmers complaining they cannot sell their eggs because the egg tray manufacturers have been shut down. The price of eggs have increased by three sen each.
The Police and now Army are making the calls what is essential and non essential.
This story above (from Malayskini) that Camerons vegetable farmers may dump hundreds of tons of vegetables is another example.
Please make sure that there are NO disruptions to the country's food supply.
Cameron Highlands is our main source of vegetables.
The Camerons have been supplying our vegetables for almost 100 years.
Don't go and interrupt them now.
The prices of vegetables will go up.
This Cameron Highlands problem can be solved easily. There are only three roads out of Camerons - to Simpang Pulai, to Tapah, to Gua Musang. The routes taken by the vegetable trucks (and also their time of departures are all well known.)
Just issue Police passes to the vegetable lorries and trucks in Cameron Highlands itself.
Then the vegetable lorries can show these passes at the Police checkpoints anywhere in Ipoh, Penang, Kota Bharu, Selayang, Kuala Lumpur etc.
The MKN has to be on the ball.
