Annuar Musa wants grand coalition - woos Muda, Pejuang, Warisan

BN secretary-general Annuar Musa has called for a grand coalition to settle Malaysia's political paralysis and made overtures to parties and groups such as Warisan, Muda and Pejuang to join.

In a Facebook post this morning, the Ketereh MP referenced PAS deputy president Tuan Ibrahim Tuan Man's hope that the Muafakat Nasional meeting on Nov 18 would formally seal a tripartite alliance between Umno, PAS and the Bersatu party of Prime Minister Muhyiddin Yassin.

"The efforts of the union of the ummah (Malay/Muslim community) must be our main responsibility and continuous.

"For too long our politics have been centred around two or three personalities, and not on the basis of struggle.

Annuar said on too many occasions, national politics had taken a detour in terms of defending or being against individuals.

"Enough is enough. Even the union of the ummah should not be limited to just Umno, PAS and Bersatu," said the Federal Territories minister.

"I would like to organise the formation of a Grand Coalition involving at least 12,13 political parties," he added.

He called for the consolidation of parties involving BN, Perikatan Nasional, Gabungan Parti Sabah and Gabungan Rakyat Sarawak, saying the member parties had proved they could work effectively within the framework of the PN government.

"Some parties that are independent or (willing to) reject Pakatan Harapan can be brought together," added Annuar.

He named Parti Warisan Sabah, Parti Pejuang Tanah Air (led by ex-premier Tun Dr Mahathir Mohamad), the Muda group led by Muar MP Syed Saddiq Syed Abdul Rahman and parties unrepresented in the Dewan Rakyat such as Berjasa, the Indian Progressive Front, Makkal Sakthi and Parti Cinta Malaysia.

"The important thing is that we leave personality-centred politics and we spread the politics of the unity of the people. The emphasis must be on stability, national resilience and the needs of the people," said Annuar, adding that this could help prepare the country to rebuild in the post-Covid-19 world.
