Businessperson arrested for alleged rape of daughter

 

Police arrested a 45-year-old businessperson for allegedly raping his daughter countless times at their home in Kuala Lumpur since early this year.

Ampang Jaya police chief ACP Mohamad Farouk Eshak said the rape incident had come to light after the police detained the victim at Terminal Bersepadu Selatan (TBS) on Nov 1.

“The teenager was actually detained for attempting to leave the city, which is currently under the conditional movement control order (CMCO), without a travel permit.

“Upon questioning, we got to know of the matter and that the victim was actually attempting to escape to her mother's home in Kedah,” he told a press conference at the Ampang Jaya District Police Headquarters today.

Detailing the incident, Mohamad Farouk said the victim was allegedly raped by her father every week since February.

“Due to the vile action committed by the father, the victim had tried to commit suicide by drinking liquid detergent in June... she is suffering from depression and is traumatised by the incident,” he said, adding that the girl is the suspect's child from a previous marriage.

The girl, he said, has been living in the suspect's custody since September 2019 along with his second wife and her four children.

Mohamad Farouk revealed that the suspect has one prior criminal record for rape and incest in 2004, in which he had attempted to proceed himself on his sister-in-law at the time.

The suspect was arrested on Nov 2 at his home and has been in remand since then for investigations under Section 376B of the Penal Code for incest, which carries a prison sentence up to 20 years and whipping.
