KUCHING: A partial lockdown of Kuching district under the conditional movement control order (CMCO) will be enforced for 14 days from Nov 9 to Nov 22, Sarawak Disaster Management Committee chairman Douglas Uggah Embas said today.

The decision comes in the wake of daily increases in Covid-19 cases, he said.

A partial lockdown has also been announced for six states in the peninsula from Nov 9 to Dec 6, and the CMCO in the Klang Valley and Sabah has been extended, also to Dec 6.

Uggah said the decision was made after evaluating the situation and taking into consideration the number of cases recorded in the district in the last 14 days.

“Inter-district travel within the state is allowed except entering and leaving Kuching district. The SOPs will be issued on Nov 8.

“Interstate travel from the peninsula, Sabah and Labuan is not allowed except for those with permission from the police,” he said at the daily Covid-19 briefing. - FMT
