Cops summon Mujahid for allegedly questioning ruler's decision

Former religious affairs minister Mujahid Yusof Rawa is expected to arrive at the Bukit Aman police headquarters this evening to record a statement for allegedly questioning the Yang di-Pertuan Agong's decision eight months ago.

Bukit Aman CID deputy director Mior Faridalathrash Wahid confirmed that an investigation paper had been opened against the Amanah leader after a police report was lodged then.

"Yes, we will summon (Mujahid). The investigation involved an old case back in March where a police report was lodged against him," he told Malaysiakini.

A report was made against him and Shah Alam MP Khalid Samad at the Jalan Patani police station in Penang on March 7 for allegedly questioning the king's power to appoint Muhyiddin Yassin as the eighth prime minister after the Sheraton Move.

The complainant wanted the police to probe both Amanah leaders for allegedly insulting the Agong and the Conference of Rulers, stating that their statements could instigate the people to go against the rulers.

When contacted, Mujahid only confirmed that he was being summoned to Bukit Aman.

He said he could not divulge further details as he was not told about the nature of the investigation.

"I was not informed of the case specifically, but it is said that the classified crimes investigation unit (is probing me). I am asking the question too," he added. - Mkini
