Covid-19 (Nov 5): 1,009 new cases, record number of active cases

 


COVID-19 | The Health Ministry today reported 1,009 new Covid-19 cases and six deaths in the 24-hour period ending noon today.

A new record was set today for the number of active cases.

Leading indicators in brief:

  • Active cases = 10,503 ↑ (164 more than previous day)
  • Patients in intensive care = 78 ↓ (4 fewer than previous day)
  • Intubated patients = 28 ↑ (1 more than previous day)
  • Deaths = 6

Five new deaths were reported in Sabah, one in Selangor.

According to the Health Ministry, five deaths were reported in Sabah while Selangor reported one.

The cumulative death toll for Sabah stands at 143. Sabah has reported 51.6 percent of the country's total Covid-19 related deaths, which is at 277.

Of the six victims, two were foreigners, both in Sabah. The victims' ages ranged from 54 to 92.

Of the 1,009 new cases, nine cases were imported cases. They involve four foreigners and five Malaysians.

Sabah continued to report the highest number of new cases (55.9 percent) followed by Klang Valley regions (19.6 percent) and Labuan (9.4 percent).
