COVID-19 | The government will impose the enhanced movement control order (MCO) in the Sungai Seluang subdistrict of Kulim, Kedah, and in Taman Telipok Ria in Tuaran, Sabah.
This followed a spike in Covid-19 cases detected in those areas, Senior Minister (Defence Cluster) Ismail Sabri Yaakob said. The order will take effect for 14 days from Nov 27 to Dec 10.
He said the enhanced MCO in Sungai Seluang will involve about 6,000 residents in 1,412 households in the following housing estates: Taman Bayam, Taman Bayam Indah, Taman Kangkong 1 & 2, Taman Halia, Taman Cekur Manis, Taman Kobis, Taman Sawi and Taman Sri Limau.
Ismail Sabri added that the Health Ministry has conducted 197 targeted tests in the area, of which 50 were positive for Covid-19. However, he did not specify the period when these tests were conducted.
In Taman Telipok Ria in Sabah, he said 2,609 people have been tested for Covid-19 up to Nov 22, of which 253 were positive. There are 581 tests still pending results.
The coming enhanced MCO will affect 3,400 houses and its 18,000 inhabitants, he said, covering an area of 229,459sqm.
As for Kudat, Sabah, Ismail Sabri said the enhanced MCO in Kampung Pengaraban, Kampung Tanjung Kapor and Kampung Landung Ayang will be lifted tomorrow, as scheduled.
“Based on the Health Ministry’s risk assessment, the Covid-19 situation in these localities show a downtrend and is under control,” he said.
Nevertheless, these areas will still be subject to restrictions under the conditional MCO that is imposed on Sabah overall. - Mkini
