Employers interested in participating in the ‘Labour Recalibration Programme’ under the ‘Undocumented Migrant Recalibration Plan’ can send in applications to the Immigration Department via email at rekalibrasi@imi.gov.my beginning Nov 16.
Immigration director-general Khairul Dzaimee Daud in a statement today said only employers from four sectors, namely manufacturing, construction, agriculture and plantations were allowed to participate in the programme.
Employers would need to submit an application letter appended with information regarding the company and foreign workers who wish to participate.
"A review will be done by the Malaysian Immigration Department to ensure that the employers are not on the department's blacklist," he said.
Applicants are also advised to visit the website of the Department of Labour of Peninsular Malaysia (JTKSM) for further information.
Yesterday, the government launched the recalibration programme covering two main components - the Return Recalibration Programme and the Labour Recalibration Programme - which will be implemented from Nov 16, 2020, to June 30, 2021.
The Return Recalibration Programme would allow undocumented migrants to voluntarily return to their home country, subject to set conditions.
The Labour Recalibration Programme, meanwhile, would turn undocumented migrants in the country into legal foreign workers, employed by qualified employers, subject to strict conditions decided by the government through JIM and JTKSM.
