KUALA LUMPUR: A total of 506 individuals were nabbed for violating the Covid-19 standard operating procedures (SOP) during the Recovery Movement Control Order (RMCO), yesterday.
Senior Minister (Security cluster) Datuk Seri Ismail Sabri Yaakob said out of the total picked up for various SOP related offences, 498 individuals were served compounds, six remanded and two were released on bail.
"The offences are still the same as in the past, the highest number of offences is still the failure to wear a mask in public (124), followed by failure to provide essential log registration materials at premises (145) and failure to adhere to physical distancing (96), entertainment outlets operating (72), premises operating beyond permitted hours (17) and other offences (52).
"The compliance task force will continue to enhance monitoring and inspection at public places to ensure compliance of the new normal SOPs," he said.
Yesterday, he said, the task force which involved 2,944 compliance teams made up of 13,834 personnel conducted a total of 57,185 inspections.
"Among them were inspections at 3,558 supermarkets, 5,028 restaurants, 1,149 factories, 1,530 wet markets, 2,855 houses of worship as well as 1,250 recreational areas," he said.
On Ops Benteng yesterday, Ismail Sabri said the Armed Forces nabbed 41 undocumented immigrants, including two tekong, two smugglers and seized five vehicles.
"Yesterday, under Ops Benteng, army personnel foiled the attempt of 23 illegals who tried to slip into the country via the Desaru coast in Johor.
"A total of 149 roadblocks were set up by police, army (121) and the Malaysian Border Security Agency (9)."
On sanitisation operation yesterday, he said 29 were conducted across 11 red zones, two yellow zones and nine green zones in eight states.
Speaking on the daily progress of mandatory quarantine, he said a total of 61,331 individuals arrived in the country via the nation's airports from July 24 to Nov 5.
"They have been placed at 67 hotels and 19 other training premises including public training institutes (ILA), public learning institutes in Kuala Lumpur, Selangor, Negri Sembilan, Penang, Johor, Sarawak, Kelantan, Perak, Kedah, Perlis, Terengganu, Sabah and Labuan.
"Out of the total, 9,886 individuals are currently under the 14-day mandatory quarantine, while 384 had been admitted to hospitals for treatment.
"A total of 51,061 individuals were discharged and allowed to return home," Ismail Sabri said. - NST
