The Kelantan state assembly today unanimously approved the bill to amend the Administration and Members of the State Assembly (Remuneration) Enactment 1980 to streamline and increase the salary of state assemblypersons.
The bill was tabled by Deputy Menteri Besar Mohd Amar Nik Abdullah (above) and seconded by state Human Development, Education, Higher Education, Science and Technology Committee chairperson Mohamed Fadzli Hassan.
Mohd Amar said the responsibilities of administration members and state assemblypersons are getting more challenging and the people depend on them to deal with the Covid-19 pandemic.
“The bill is also to streamline the allowance for administration members and state assemblypersons to be at par with other states,” he said when tabling the bill.
He added it was hoped that the amendment would encourage administration members and state assemblypersons to be more responsible and persistent in carrying out their duties and to always give their best to the people.
