Masidi announces new SOPs, rules for donors in Sabah

 

Sabah minister Masidi Manjun says local donors must notify state govt at least 3 days in advance.

KOTA KINABALU: Sabah has come up with SOPs to ensure all those intending to make contributions to people affected by Covid-19 comply with the health guidelines and avoid the risk of further infections.

Local government and housing minister Masidi Manjun said the state government welcomed assistance from non-governmental organisations (NGOs), private companies, community leaders and individuals but they would all need to follow the regulations.

Under the SOPs, non-governmental organisations (NGOs), private companies, community leaders and individuals who wished to make any contribution are required to notify the deputy state secretary’s (administration) office first.

“They must notify the deputy state secretary’s office three days prior to delivery of contributions or assistance,” Masidi said, in his daily Covid-19 statement today.

“As for contributors from outside Sabah, (they must notify) the office at least seven days before handing over the contributions.”

Among the information needed by the state are a brief background of contributors/organisations; types and forms of contributions; number of proposed recipients; distribution location and delivery schedule of contributions.

He added that non-Sabahan contributors or individuals from outside Sabah must also secure approval before entering the state.

They could do so by visiting the site https://hednp.sabah.gov.my/ to apply for approval.

The SOPs will be enforced in all areas under the current conditional movement control order (CMCO) and enhanced MCO (EMCO) in Sabah.

According to the SOPs provided to the media, distribution of donations or assistance without the knowledge of the deputy state secretary’s office or the respective district disaster operations control centres (PKOBs) are prohibited.

Donors who wished to deliver contributions by hand to targeted groups are also required to be accompanied by the district PKOB personnel comprising a representative either from the police, Rela, civil defence department or general welfare services department.

Only five representatives per NGO are allowed to be present during the distribution process. - FMT
