PAS central committee member Nik Abduh Nik Abdul Aziz defended his colleague Mohd Khairuddin Aman Razali, who came under fire over photographs of him in public without a face mask.
In a Facebook post, Nik Abduh shared what he has been telling his friends whenever he was asked about the matter.
"My answer was, it was good that he (Khairuddin) did not wear one. He is showing us the differences between crowded places where the mask is required and non-crowded places where it is not required," he added.
Khairuddin, who is Kuala Nerus MP and the minister for plantation industries and commodities, had courted flak online after photographs of him being the only person without a mask while mingling with the public.
In August, he was fined RM1,000 for allegedly breaching the Control of Infectious Diseases Act 1988. However, the Attorney-General's Chambers later concluded that he did no wrong.
Currently, it is uncertain what was his exact offence which resulted in the RM1,000 fine.
Meanwhile, Nik Abduh, who is also the Pasir Mas MP, urged the public not to be influenced by "Pakatan Harapan children" who orchestrated efforts to publicise photographs of Khairuddin without a mask.
"They are trying to dumb down the minds of the public. Praise and criticism must be based on the truth.
"Remember that in our religion, slander and spreading fake news will be rife in the end of days," he said. - Mkini
