PETALING JAYA: Finance Minister Tengku Zafrul Aziz was urged today to hold another meeting with opposition leaders on how to incorporate their views and suggestions on the 2021 federal budget estimates now before the Dewan Rakyat.
DAP adviser Lim Kit Siang said today it was timely for Tengku Zafrul to meet opposition leaders again after a week of debate in the house.
Pakatan Harapan representatives had made six recommendations to the finance minister in a pre-budget consultation on Nov 1. Lim said it was not good enough to have held the meeting without accepting or incorporating any of their views and suggestions.
Lim, who is MP for Iskandar Puteri, also questioned whether enough MPs would support the budget when a vote is called on Nov 25 at the end of the policy debate.
He said opposition MPs had been bending backwards to try to support the budget and he accused Tengku Zafrul of expecting a blank cheque from MPs in the wake of the Yang di-Pertuan Agong advising that the budget be approved by the Dewan Rakyat. - FMT
