‘Missing’ RM1 bil reserves used to develop infrastructure, says Selangor MB

Selangor Menteri Besar Amirudin Shari said the state used part of its reserves to build important development projects for the convenience of the people.

SHAH ALAM: About RM1 billion of the Selangor government’s reserves, said to have allegedly “vanished”, was actually spent on the construction of important projects in the state, said Menteri Besar Amirudin Shari.

He said among the projects were the RM700 million Labohan Dagang water treatment plant, Semenyih Water Treatment Plant 2 and Klang’s third bridge, the Raja Muda Nala Bridge (reported to cost RM230 million).

Amirudin said when Abdul Khalid Ibrahim was the menteri besar, the state government had RM3.3 billion in reserves.

“Now, the state government has RM2.1 billion, but the money has not simply ‘vanished’. It was spent on development projects for the convenience of the people of Selangor,” he told reporters here today.

He was asked to comment on the state government’s reserves issue raised by Kota Anggerik assemblyman Mohd Najwan Halimi while debating the Selangor Budget 2021 at the state legislative assembly on Tuesday. - FMT
