GEORGE TOWN: Penang’s iconic skyscraper Komtar is now lit up in a sparkling orange after the daily Covid-19 cases started to ease over the last few days.

State tourism and creative economy committee chairman Yeoh Soon Hin said that the different colour featured on Komtar depends on the Health Ministry’s daily Covid-19 update for George Town.

“We will light up Komtar according to the daily update, so that the people will know what zone George Town is in,” he said on Friday (Nov 20).

Since Wednesday (Nov 18), Komtar has been illuminated in orange as the state started to show a gradual improvement in the number of Covid-19 cases.

In a Facebook post, Chief Minister Chow Kon Yeow said that Komtar was lit up in orange, symbolising a "victory" for all Penangites in the fight against the Covid-19 pandemic.

There are four colours to indicate the level of severity of the Covid-19 outbreak - green for zero cases, yellow for 1-20 cases, orange for 21-40 cases, and red for more than 40 cases.

As of Friday (Nov 20), Penang recorded 25 new cases, bringing the tally to 1,736 Covid-19 cases in the state. - Star
