Petaling Jaya police chief Nik Ezanee Mohd Faisal will undergo home quarantine for a second time in a month over Covid-19 concerns.
Nik Ezanee previously voluntarily self-quarantined after having indirect contact with a Covid-19 patient.
However, this time he has been instructed by the authorities to undergo compulsory quarantine as he came into direct contact with a Covid-19 patient.
Nik Ezanee, in a message to the media, confirmed that he was instructed to remain in quarantine until Nov 23.
He said he came in contact with a suspect who later tested positive for Covid-19.
"It is part of my job to manage all seven lockups under my jurisdiction which requires constant visits.
"Besides checking on my sentries and the remand order expirations et cetara, we also take into account the well being of the suspects.
"Hence, small talk or casual interviews are done regularly," he said, adding that this was his daily routine when he stepped into his office and before he retired for the day.
"I went for a Covid test this morning. Hope for a favourable result," he said.
On Oct 12, Nik Ezanee said he was voluntarily going into quarantine as a precaution.
This was after he met with the Petaling district health officer who had come into contact with a Covid-19 patient.
However, on Oct 14, Ezanee said he was ending his quarantine after the Covid-19 test result on the Petaling district health officer returned negative. - Mkini
