Selangor govt concerned over proposed PJD Link project, says exco man

 

No approval has been given to the proposed Petaling Jaya Dispersal Link project, which is still in its early stage, the state assembly was told today.

SHAH ALAM: The state government today said it has raised concerns over the proposed Petaling Jaya Dispersal Link (PJD Link) highway project, that aims to disperse traffic from Damansara and Kinrara.

Infrastructure committee chairman Izham Hashim (PH-Pandan Indah) said the proposal is still at an early stage.

“The proposal was tabled to the State Economic Council recently. There is no commitment from us to invest in the company.

“We had many questions when it came up, especially on the alignment that needs to pass through rivers and residential areas,” Izham told the state assembly today.

Earlier, R Rajiv (PH-Bukit Gasing) raised the issue of the PJD Link project during question-and-answer time. “We ejected Kidex some years ago, why don’t we just reject this at the first instance?” he asked, referring to the Kinrara Damansara Expressway.

Izham stressed no green light had been given for the PJD Link project to proceed.

“We will use the powers given to the state to decide on the alignments if the federal government approves it in principle.

“For now, the TIA (traffic impact assessment), SIA (social impact assessment) and EIA (environmental impact reports) have not been done yet,” he said.

He also said the state government was looking into three other proposed highways.

The proposed PJD Link has been speculated to replace Kidex, which was cancelled by former menteri besar Mohamed Azmin Ali because of technical reasons.

The federal government said in 2016 that Petaling Jaya Dispersal Link Holdings had submitted a proposal to construct a 34.3km dual-carriage expressway with four lanes and eight interchanges or ramps. - FMT
