KUALA LUMPUR: The Dewan Rakyat sitting today will be closely followed to see if the 2021 budget will be passed.
If time permits, voting on the Supply Bill 2021, which covers the budget, will be conducted shortly after the remaining nine ministers complete their winding up the debate for their ministries.
The budget is the first by the Perikatan Nasional (PN) government led by Prime Minister Muhyiddin Yassin since taking over power last March. It is allocating RM322.5 billion for next year’s national expenditure.
According to the Order Paper for today’s sitting, the issue of border control will be raised during Minister’s Question Time following the attack on General Operations Force personnel by smugglers at the Malaysia-Thai border in Padang Besar, Perlis, two days ago.
One GOF personnel was killed and another seriously injured in the incident.
The house will also discuss corruption among government employees and development on amendments to the Syariah Courts (Criminal Jurisdiction) Act 1965 or Act 355. - FMT
