Tajuddin has narrow political view - Loke

Seremban MP Anthony Loke said Pasir Salak MP Tajuddin Abdul Rahman has a narrow political view for thinking that equal monetary allocation to opposition MPs amounts to "killing" the BN.

Loke reminded the MPs that the current government is fragile and if they want cooperation from the opposition, they need to be understanding.

"They need to make it (equal allocation) as a policy. If we win tomorrow, we have to commit that the opposition has to have equal allocation.

"To me, whether it is killing or not, it's a narrow political view," he said in an interview broadcasted on DAP's Facebook page yesterday.

Yesterday, Tajuddin had said that when Pakatan Harapan was in power, it did not give equal allocation to the opposition either.

In response to this, Loke explained that under the Harapan government, the opposition MPs were given RM100,000 each and it was considering raising the amount in stages.

"Before 2018, no opposition MPs had received even a sen from the government. But under Harapan, we changed this and gave them RM100,000.

"At that time, we had just taken over (the administration). We were thinking of raising the amount in stages.

"Now, they (PN) also give us RM100,000. I think we don't have to resort to tit for tat," he said.

Loke opined that Umno would never agree to give equal allocation to opposition MPs.

"I think they will never agree to this. If there's an agreement such as this, that means the opposition has an understanding with the prime minister, and Umno will run out of its bargaining power.

"Umno (only) sees its own strategy. How can we have reconciliation if we cannot cooperate on a matter like this?" Loke asked. - Mkini
