PUTRAJAYA: This is the time for corporate bodies and individuals with the financial resources to assist those adversely affected by the Covid-19 pandemic and the coming monsoon floods, says entrepreneur development and cooperatives minister, Wan Junaidi Tuanku Jaafar.
“In a situation where many people have lost their jobs due to the pandemic, the coming of the monsoon season which is usually at the year-end, only worsens it.
“Not just the corporate sector but also people with extra resources, this is the time for them to help those facing difficulties,” he said today at a ceremony to hand over cash aid from Yayasan Bank Rakyat for Hulu Langat flood victims.
The aid amounting to RM90,000 was for 450 families affected by a flash flood on Nov 3. Each family received RM200.
Hulu Langat Barisan Nasional chairman Johan Abdul Aziz received the aid on behalf of the affected residents from Bank Rakyat chairman Nazir Hussin Akhtar.
Wan Junaidi said Yayasan Bank Rakyat would also provide school aid of RM200 each to 500 school children from the flood-affected families. - FMT
