Unscheduled water supply disruptions affecting more than one million Klang Valley users will commence at 6pm today after three water treatment plants (SSP 1, 2, and 3) in Kuala Selangor had to be shut down at 12.20pm due to odour pollution.
This is expected to cause unscheduled water supply disruptions to 1,139,008 accounts covering 1,279 areas in Wilayah Kuala Lumpur, Petaling, Klang, Shah Alam, Kuala Selangor, Hulu Selangor, Gombak and Kuala Langat.
The list of affected areas can be found here:
"Efforts to dilute solvents and flush contaminants that were found in the Selangor River have been made by releasing 300 million litres of water from Sungai Selangor River dam," said Elina Basir, corporate communications head of the Selangor Water Management Board (Luas).
"Air Selangor understands the situation of consumers who need clean water, especially with the increase in Covid-19 cases and the implementation of the conditional movement control order (CMCO), and will make every effort to minimise the impact of interference on affected consumers," she added.
Information on unscheduled water supply disruptions will be updated periodically through all Air Selangor accounts on Twitter, Facebook, Instagram, the Air Selangor application and the website at www.airselangor.com. - Mkini
