PETALING JAYA: About “99.9%” of PAS grassroots are said to be pleased with the decision to drop former minister Khairuddin Aman Razali from its central committee, party president Abdul Hadi Awang said.
He said there was no need for PAS to elaborate on the matter or issue an official statement, despite calls to do so, Utusan Malaysia reported.
Hadi said it was clear that Khairuddin’s ouster was linked to disciplinary issues and was an internal matter that need not be publicised.
“There’s no need (for an official explanation), such opinions calling for an explanation to be provided are isolated, and I was informed that 99.9% of the grassroots were pleased,” the Malay daily quoted him as saying.Last week, Hadi announced that Khairuddin had been dropped as a PAS central committee member.
Khairuddin, who is the Kuala Nerus MP, had previously hinted that he was ousted due to his push for the party to continue working with Umno through Muafakat Nasional (MN).
Hadi is not in favour of maintaining MN should Umno continue to reject Bersatu as part of the alliance.
PAS has subsequently dismissed Khairuddin’s claim.
Hadi went on to explain that before the party decided to drop Khairuddin from the line-up, it had taken preliminary measures, including advising him of the decision.
“He isn’t sacked, just dropped as a central committee member. And prior to that, there were some disciplinary issues,” he said, adding there was no need to fill the vacancy as the party was functioning “as normal”. - FMT
