A second drug test conducted on Pasir Bedamar assemblyperson Terence Naidu has failed to detect any illicit drugs, according to his lawyer Ramkarpal Singh.
He said Terence received the test result today and has lodged a police report at the Seberang Perai Tengah district police headquarters to urge further investigations.
“In light of this new development, it is clear that the police should conduct further investigations immediately in the interest of justice, where Terence is prepared to provide any cooperation for that purpose,” he said in a statement today.
Terence was arrested during a police raid on a nightclub on Jan 13, where he supposedly underwent a urine test that came back positive for drugs.
He has since denied taking any illicit substances and claimed his drink may have been tampered with.
According to Ramkarpal, Terence went to a private clinic in Penang to conduct a second test on Jan 15, a day after he was released on bail.
“I was also informed that Terence has undergone the second test by himself at Klinik O2 because he was dissatisfied with the first test conducted by the police that found traces of drugs in his urine, and because his request for the police to do a second test was not entertained.
“According to Terence, the urine sample taken by Klinik O2 has been analysed by Pathlab’s laboratories, which found absolutely no trace of any drugs in his urine,” he said.
