Pakatan Harapan has called on Prime Minister Ismail Sabri Yaakob to call for another special Parliament sitting to address scandals surrounding the MACC.
This includes not only MACC chief Azam Baki's shareholdings controversy but also cases such as the misappropriation of RM25 million by a senior officer and MACC agents being involved in a robbery.
"The prime minister can no longer keep silent. As the leader of the House, he must call for a special parliament session to explain the truth behind Azam's shareholdings.
"He (Ismail) must also explain how the MACC's management and administration have been damaged to the point that there are cases which ruined its image," the Harapan presidential council said.
The statements were signed by the party chiefs for PKR (Anwar Ibrahim), Amanah (Mohamad Sabu), DAP (Lim Guan Eng) and Upko (Wilfred Madius Tangau).
Azam has been under fire after it emerged that he held millions in shares and warrants in two publicly listed companies during his tenure as MACC investigations director.
The MACC chief claimed his brother had used his account to buy the shares and denied any wrongdoing.
Conflict of interest
The case has led to questions regarding conflict of interest, as well as whether he violated a rule prohibiting civil servants from owning more than RM100,000 in shares.
The MACC advisory board also said it was satisfied with Azam's explanation and found no misconduct.
The Harapan presidential council said Azam and the MACC advisory board's explanations were unacceptable.
Meanwhile, senior MACC enforcement officer Shahrum Nizam Baharuddin has been charged for the misappropriation of RM25 million cash.
The cash was part of RM50.4 million seized when the MACC was investigating former spy chief Hasanah Abdul Hamid.
After getting a discharge not amounting to an acquittal by the court last year, Hasanah sought to reclaim the monies but found the RM25 million missing.
Separately three MACC officers had been arrested by police in December over their alleged involvement in a RM700,000 gang robbery case.
The Harapan presidential council said an independent probe should be launched into the MACC and investigate all chief commissioners past and present.
